During the Cyprus Seeds Innovation Showcase, held on 16 Oct 2020 at the Cyprus Institute for the celebration of the successful completion of the 1st funding cycle of the Cyprus Seeds program and for the purpose of meeting the 2019/20 grantees, Prof. Georghiou presented SOLEX-FOSS start-up company- the business idea of which is to develop the next generation intelligent monitoring platform for the early detection of faults in PV systems.
ETEK Engineering Award 2020 was granted by the Technical Chamber of Cyprus to the Electrical Engineer-Researcher of FOSS, Andreas Livera! The winner developed the novel and automated tool for forecasting the PV power production «Suncaster», under the guidance of Dr Giorgos Makrides.
The PV Technology Lab and FOSS Research Centre for Sustainable Energy of the University of Cyprus were granted the Energy Globe National Award for Cyprus, by the national Energy Globe jury, which is based in Austria.The Energy Globe Award is the most important award for Sustainability worldwide!
Research at the PV Technology Laboratory focuses on a wide range of themes and to activities extending well beyond scientific research. We pursue research collaborations and conduct research in collaboration with other academic and industrial institutes.
The PV Technology Laboratory, University of Cyprus is Twinned with the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The project is funded by the European Commission under the project "Stimulating scientific excellence through twinning in the quest for sustainable energy (TwinPV)" - Grant 692031.
