Interoperability in smart grids using Internet of Things (IoT) platforms – PV Forecasting
The scope of this Virtual Laboratory exercise is to demonstrate interoperability in future smart energy flows by developing a software-based photovoltaic (PV) generation forecasting application.
In particular, the Laboratory provides a detailed step-by-step procedure for the acquisition of data from numerical weather prediction providers using application protocol interfaces, and present methods to predict the power output and visualizing the results.
Upon completion of this exercise, individuals will be able to:
• Interface software solutions with external services.
• Understand the operation of Smart Grid energy flows.
• Implement models for PV power generation forecasting.
• Understand interoperability and energy flows in Smart Grids.
