Virtual Laboratory Environment
Distributed generation performance modelling analysis: Photovoltaic systems
Scope
The scope of this Virtual Laboratory is to present methods and tools applied to analyze the outdoor performance of distributed generation systems and specifically photovoltaics. In particular, the experiment provides a detailed step-by-step procedure for the acquisition of PV module performance and weather datasets, and their analysis utilizing commonly employed performance metrics and modelling techniques.
Specific Outcomes
Upon completion of this exercise, individuals will be able to:
• Acquire and analyze performance data for distributed generation systems (PV).
• Determine the efficiency and performance ratio of PV systems given the in-plane irradiance and power output.
• Develop models to analyze the performance of different PV technologies.
• Identify and quantify the common performance loss factors of PV systems.
