Dr Melios Hadjikypris started his academic career by following undergraduate studies in the field of electrical and electronic engineering at The University of Manchester, United Kingdom, within the school of electrical and electronic engineering, obtaining a first class honours Bachelor of Engineering degree (BEng (Hons)), Sep. 2007-Jun. 2010. He then proceeded with postgraduate studies in the sector of control systems engineering, obtaining a Master of Science (MSc) degree with merit in advanced control and systems engineering within the group of control systems at The University of Manchester, Sep.2010 Sep. 2011. Dr Hadjikypris initiated his doctoral research studies (PhD) within the group of electrical energy and power systems at The University of Manchester, obtaining his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in power system dynamics (Supervisory Control Scheme for FACTS and VSC-HVDC based Damping of Inter-Area Power Oscillations in Hybrid AC-DC Power Systems) (Oct. 2011-Nov 2015). During his PhD studies he published several high impact scientific papers as well as participated in prestigious international conferences. Having successfully being awarded the title of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), he followed a one year post-doctoral research programme in the group of electrical energy and power systems, at The University of Manchester, studying the deployment of supervisory control strategies for optimal integration of energy storage in future power systems targeting an enhanced frequency control capability. Dr Melios Hadjikypris is now a special scientist at the PV Technology laboratory, FOSS Research Centre for Sustainable Energy, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Cyprus. His work focuses on optimal integration of PV and energy storage in transmission systems. Dr Hadjikypris is also a holder of the 2016 best reviewer award of the International Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems, ELSEVIER.
